ABPS Celebrates National Doctors’ Day on March 30

Tampa, FL -The American Board of Physician Specialties® (ABPS) urges all Americans to recognize the commitment, sacrifice, and hard work of our country’s physicians on National Doctors’ Day. This national day of celebration each year falls on March 30th, and it celebrates the essential role that physicians serve in all of our daily lives and to thank them for their contributions to our public health.

“We all rely on physicians to keep us healthy, deliver our newborns, and help make us comfortable later in life, and National Doctors’ Day is one small way that we can give thanks to these talented men and women,” said Ken Flowe, M.D., FAAEP, MBA, president of the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.(AAPS), the governing body of ABPS.

“If you have a close relationship with your physician, or have been touched by a particularly helpful and understanding physician recently, be sure to reach out and say thank you. Even a small sign of gratitude is extremely rewarding, as it will help your physician keep perspective about why they have spent so much time and energy mastering their field of expertise,” he added.

National Doctors’ Day was first observed in 1933 and was officially made a national day of celebration by President George H.W. Bush in 1991. March 30th marks the anniversary of the first use of ether anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long.

“We come together with the rest of America to salute our healthcare professionals on National Doctors’ Day and hope that patients across the country will show their continued support and appreciation to their physicians,” said Dr. Flowe.

ABPS is a nationally recognized multi-specialty certifying body that provides opportunities for qualified physicians to pursue board certification in various specialties. Our Diplomates serve in all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Canada, and represent the very best in their chosen fields.
