Tampa, FL – The American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc. (AAPS) presented its first annual Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Health Policy Leadership Award to Omofolasade B. Kosoko-Lasaki, MD, FAASS, at its recent Scientific Annual Meeting in Marina del Rey, California.

The award is named in honor of Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (1989-93) and founder of the prestigious Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta.  Dr. Sullivan presented the award to Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki.

Internationally renowned in the field of Public Health, Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki started the Creighton University Glaucoma Outreach Initiative in Nebraska and is co-founder of Creighton University’s Center for Promoting Health and Health Equality.

Dr. Sullivan, currently a public member of the AAPS Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Board of the National Health Museum in Atlanta, is a passionate advocate for health education, promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
