Charles E. Murphy Accepts Appointment to ABPS Board of Certification in Radiology as Public Member

Tampa, FL -The Board of Certification in Radiology, an ABPS physician specialty certification board, announced the appointment of Charles E. Murphy as public board member.

Mr. Murphy, an attorney with the Litigation Practice Group of Clark Hill PLC in Birmingham, Michigan has substantial litigation and arbitration experience in healthcare and other areas. Mr. Murphy has represented individual physicians, physician groups and hospitals, including cases involving staff privileges, interference with hospital contracts, physician shareholder disputes, state certification requirements and licensing board investigations and hearings as well as an arbitrator in physician staff privilege hearings at various hospitals.  In addition, Mr. Murphy is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oakland County, Michigan Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.

“Charles’ healthcare industry perspective will help him represent the public’s point of view on medical board certification, ”said Dr. Craig Smith, recent chair of the Board of Certification in Radiology.“  He will provide an added dimension to board certification review and planning, different from that of scientific experts.“

ABPS was the first certifying organization to include public members on member boards, representing the public’s interests in patient welfare.  ABPS public members collaborate with medical professionals to bring critical insight to the physician certification process that contributes to the health and safety of patients.

The Board of Certification in Radiology is a Member Board of the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS).  ABPS is the official certifying body of the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.
